Get Involved

Volunteer

We’re always keen for anyone in the community to get involved in what we do. Keep an eye on the monthly newsletter for the latest volunteer requests. Opportunities include projects such as Wild Wantage, The Market Garden and volunteering to help collect and pack surplus food with The Mix Community Fridge. There may also be admin based opportunities to support the committee.

Donate

Sustainable Wantage is a non-profit organisation, run for the benefit of Wantage, Grove and surrounding villages. We rely on grants, income from refills and hires of The Mix Community Space, and donations from the public. If you would like to make a donation please use our donation form for online payments or email us if you would like to donate another way. Thank you!

Become a member

Sustainable Wantage is a Community Benefit Society, a special form of co-operative, owned and run by our members. Membership is open and we would love you to join and support us. It’s £5 per year to be a member, plus a one-off payment of £1 to buy a share in the co-op. Click here for more details including how to apply.

Reduce your impact

A really important way to help what we do is to see how you can reduce your carbon footprint and therefore your impact on the environment.

Some actions that can make a difference:

Food – reduce meat & dairy consumption, reduce food waste, shop with local producers & grow your own.
Energy – reduce energy use and loss, switch to a renewable energy company, install renewable technologies/insulation, invest in renewable energy projects.
Transport – walk, cycle, use public transport or car share; choose electric if you need a vehicle; reduce or stop flying.
Waste – buy only what you need; reuse, repair, recycle.
Campaigning
– use your voice to speak up for the environment.
Nature – bring more wildlife to where you live.

Got an idea for a local project or activity?

Maybe we can help you make it happen. Whether it’s a planting project, make and mend, bread-making, foraging walks, DIY insulating, bike maintenance, group buying, water saving, seed swapping, energy projects, swishing or anything else that involves sustainability, we would love to hear about it.

If you’d like to talk through an idea, large or small, get in touch. We may be able to offer the support it needs to get it going, such as publicity or equipment.
