Sustainable Wantage is part of the core team of Wantage And Grove Active Travel (WAGAT).
WAGAT is a group of local volunteers working to promote active travel, e.g. walking, cycling, wheeling (using a wheelchair or mobility aid).
WAGAT works with developers, councils, and other stakeholders to improve infrastructure, create and signpost routes, ensure accessibility is considered, and encourage local residents to make short local journeys under their own steam.
“Active travel is convenient, cheap, low carbon and health giving. It is community-enhancing, equitable and sustainable in every possible sense” – Chris Boardman, National Active Travel Commissioner
