About Sustainable Wantage

Sustainable Wantage is a Community Action Group, part of a network of over 100 similar groups across Oxfordshire. We’re run by volunteers and focus on practical projects that protect the environment and strengthen our local community. Our current work centres on Food, Biodiversity, Waste Reduction and Energy. Our home is The Mix on Mill Street, Wantage.

At Sustainable Wantage, community is at the heart of everything we do. We’re a group of local people working together to build a more sustainable, resilient, and supportive town. Through shared action and everyday choices, we’re creating a future that’s better for everyone.

Impact report

What have we been up to and how does it all happen? 155 volunteers gave a tremendous 6,650 volunteer hours between May 2025 and April 2026, sharing out surplus food, swapping clothes, pressing apples, planting trees and more. Read all the details in our Impact Report

Funding

Sustainable Wantage relies on a wide range of funders who support our many projects. Our work wouldn’t be possible without these grants and we are extremely grateful for all their support.

We are fortunate to also receive great support from our community whose generous donations allow us to broaden our work and extend our reach. If you are able to help us in this way please click the Donate button at the bottom of the page. All donations – regular or one-off, large or small – help us continue our work and are very gratefully received.

Some people choose to support the causes they care about after they are gone. By leaving a gift in your Will to Sustainable Wantage, you can help ensure our work continues to make a difference for years to come.

Governance

Sustainable Wantage is a Community Benefit Society, Industrial and Provident Societies number 32023R.

We are led by a board of directors, voted in by members at our AGM.
